Why I Love To Take Photos
I remember my the very first time I was allowed to use the family camera as a child.
I was maybe eight years old, and we had traveled from home to Sydney to see the Dinosaur Exhibit at the Museum (I can’t even remember which one!) it was a special trip for my little brother who was only six, he was obsessed with dinosaurs and was so excited to go and see real ones.
I can still see the museum. It was so huge, I can vividly remember pleading with my mother to let me take the pictures as we slowly wandered around the exhibit, I can also remember when she finally said yes and the sheer excitement and joy of being in charge of taking the photos.
I don’t remember a thing about the dinosaurs, and neither does anyone else, all of the pictures I took are at wonky angles, or too close to the subject, or blurred because I’d rushed on to take the next photo.
Picking the photos up from being developed was wonderfully exciting, I remember the anticipation as Mum and I waited in line to get our photos, and the absolute elation as I saw MY photos for the first time.
I think 3 photos were actually in focus and showed the whole subject but I didn’t care, they were perfect! I was so proud.
Ever since then I have loved taking photos. Every time I line up my shot and click the shutter I feel just as excited as I did on that cold wet day in Sydney with the dinosaurs.
I want to eventually become a professional photographer. I am determined to do this(more determined every day) I think a record of the journey will be very valuable to me personally and hopefully to other Eager Photographers out there.
Other things you may like to know about me:
I Love cats especially my Lily who is incredibly demanding but makes up for it by being equally adorable.
I read obsessively usually 4 or 5 books a week sometimes more. Movies kept me alive for a very crappy period of time in my mid twenties, so I tend to treat them as old friends. One of my favorite things to do is watch an entire season of a television show in one sitting, binge television watching, its going to be huge.
I Love cupcakes and jelly beans, I have always believed that thunderstorms are a gift especially for me from the universe, I have a tendency to over think and probably over share.
My family and friends they are amazing and wonderful, luckily they’re all mine, I am grateful everyday for them.
I hate having my picture taken, It always feels weird to be on the wrong side of the camera.
