Happy New Year – 2013 Goals
HAPPY NEW YEAR !
2013 is now here and it’s that time of year again goal setting.
1. Complete a 50/50 Photo Challenge
This is one of my goals from last year that I didn’t complete and I really wanted to, I think committing to taking a photo everyday for 50 days would really help me to improve my photography and also get me into the habit of taking my camera with me everywhere.
2. Complete 3 Photography Workshops
I haven’t gone to any photography workshops or short courses for a really long time and I really miss getting out there and spending a whole day doing something I really love with a whole bunch of other people who love it to.
3. Learn more about Photography in general.
Photography is a really fascinating subject that I love learning about and I want to get back to investigating and trying techniques I haven’t used before as well as learning about photographers whose work I admire.
2012 Goals – Looking Back
At the beginning of 2012 I set a couple of photography goals you can see the full post here, they were:
1. 50 Day photo Challenge
2. Flash Photography
3. Food Photography
4. Long Exposure Photography
5. Sell a photo or a service
When I think back to setting the goals I was so excited about the new year I really just though about things I wanted to try and set them as goals. I think the reason I had difficulty completing goals was that they were not specific enough. When I set goals for 2013 I will be setting very specific goals so that I have something real to work towards.
As of today, I haven’t fully completed any of my photography goals, I have played with some of them but I haven’t really managed to complete them the way I envisioned that I would. Mostly I thought about what I could do, then talked myself out of trying for fear that I would get it wrong. I have worked really hard on my confidence this year which wasn’t one of my goals but probably should have been and even though I didn’t complete the photography goals I think the confidence I have gained this year, especially after my trip overseas is far more important in the long run than more photos.
I am happier and more excited about the future and my life than I have been in years and that’s what I am taking away from 2012.
On My Way
In my last post I hinted at some big news I have well here it is.
I have quit my job!
I am booking a plane ticket!
And I am going over to the United Kingdom!
ENGLAND Here I Come !!!
I’m Leaving in three and a half weeks, on a plane (for the first time) going overseas (for the first time) all by myself (for the first time)
This is the first time I have ever done anything like this and I’m excited and nervous but mostly excited.
I’ll be starting my adventure in London and doing an 8 day tour through England and Scotland with Contiki. Then I’m spending a month in the city I’ve always wanted to live in, Oxford !
I’m so excited I can hardly stand it, The insurance should go through before I leave so I will be able to replace my Laptop and that means I’ll be blogging all the way.
Dark & Texture.
Day 5 and Day 6, my internet had a major tantrum yesterday so day 5 and 6 have been combined.
Day 5 is all about the dark, shes a mostly black cat and the shadows are all broody, I had to use it.

Day 6 is all about texture, out the back of my parents house is this beautiful fence my Dad built when they first built their house, it is all made of railway sleepers that have gone silver with age,
Strange Kitty
So my watch word for the 2nd day of my Photography Challenge was Strange.
The Photo is of my cat Lily, the picture is not exactly strange but 2 seconds before this she had her head stuck in pair of shoes getting stoned, I didn’t manage to catch that but I did catch her self satisfied grin afterward.

Pictures & Pinterest
Recently I discovered Pinterest it is one of my favorite websites now and I check in everyday. Basically its a Pin board for all your favorite pictures, quotes and inspiration from all over the web, its also the best website on the planet for when you are totally bored at work trying to make time go faster, because it literally flies when your on Pinterest.
I have been searching photography challenges recently because i’ve been so busy I haven’t been taking my camera anywhere in ages and I felt the need to have a challenge to complete to get me back into good habits.
It’s a 30 Day challenge but i’m aiming to just do the first 7 days and today is day 1 my mission was to photograph a Street.
